The Project

In 2024, Tritech Solutions B.V. was commissioned to install a capping system using Trisoplast at the North and Central Zeeland landfill in Nieuwdorp. The project covers approximately 44,000 m² and is being executed in phases. The landfill is part of Indaver’s waste management operations in Zeeland.

Trisoplast on Incinerator Bottom Ash

The Trisoplast liner was applied over a support layer of incinerator bottom ash that had been installed several years earlier. Local profiling created a very flat, hard, and stable working surface, allowing the Trisoplast to be installed efficiently and rapidly.

Working on Slopes

The majority of the project consists of slopes with a 1:3 gradient. Additionally, there were some shorter, steeper slopes that required special attention regarding execution and equipment deployment.

Wind as a Decisive Factor

Due to the site's location in the Sloe area near the Western Scheldt, operations frequently contended with strong winds. This meant that, particularly during the installation of the geomembrane, work occasionally had to be halted for safety reasons.

Optimal logistics and work speed

A major advantage was the favorable positioning of the mobile mixing plant, which ensured short transport distances to the work area. This minimized transport movements and allowed for an effective combination of safety and high production rates.

Efficient execution

The combination of a well-prepared base layer, short transport distances, and an efficient site layout enabled the rapid and controlled installation of the Trisoplast liner, despite challenging wind conditions and the presence of slopes.

Key features

• 44,000 m² of Trisoplast, installed in two phases.
• Very flat and firm base layer of MSWI (Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator) bottom ash, ideal for rapid and efficient installation.
• Short transport distances thanks to a strategically positioned mixing plant.
• Installation on slopes of up to 1:3, with some steeper sections.
• Safe working conditions despite challenging winds due to the coastal location.
